Hi,
My '97 E320 has about 45000 miles on it and it's about time for the shocks to be replaced. Has anyone have any opinion on which shocks should I use and what range of pricing would I be expecting per piece. Thanks, Kevin |
If you were not satisfied with the ride. And feel the ride is to soft and floaty like I do, upgrade to E55 Shocks and springs. I will be. I belieive the E55 struts/shocks are made by Bilstein.

Stick with the Bilstein shocks. They last longer and ride better than any other shocks made. All my MB and VW's have been using Bilstein since day one and I will never switch to a lesser shock.
Expect to pay about $70 each, but they are worth it.... They will last twice as long as any $50 shock! ------------------ William 76 240D - 550K miles 78 300D - 200K+ miles |
You might find rear shocks for $75-100ea, but if you can buy Bilsteins (front) for newer strut cars for that much---let me know.
Either Sachs/Boge or Bilstein can be OE and both are quality parts. All MB cars w/leveling use Sachs strut legs. Most of the TRUE sportline Struts were Sachs!! A W210 chassis with 42,000mi should not need this type of repair for another 50k mi. ------------------ MERCEDES BENZ MASTER GUILD TECHNICIAN ASE MASTER TECHNICIAN 27 YEARS DEALER M.B.
