Calling at 1999 C230 owners
 

OK, here's the situation. On my 1999 C230 Kompressor Sport sedan it has the folowing on the shifter: P-R-N-D-4-3-2-1. In the owners manual (edition A-ppg 86-87) it describes how to downshift/upshift however my selector will not go past "D" to the lower gears. Can anyone explain or help with this problem.

I have seent his once before on a 722.6 equipped car and it was the calm before the storm...

...the tranny gave out shortly after.

However, it might also be shifter bushings. Is there slop?
