Hard shifts - W140 S500

My '93 S500 seems to have very hard shifts - particularly when accelerating and then lifting off - it bangs into the next gear. The box was rebuilt about 9 months ago - is anything adjustable to possibly cure this?

TIA

Andy

Classic symptoms of no vacuum signal to the modulator. Check the vacuum line between the modulator (3" canister on the driver side of the transmission) and the intake manifold or vacuum switching valve.

Be advised that I'm not 100% sure that there is a modulator or vacuum line in the 4-speed W140 cars.
