How many hours for timing chain job on '86 420SEL?
I plan on doing the guides, chain, and tensioner. Hiow long did it take you to do this?
Thanks David |
When I did the chain and rails on the 560 I probably put 4-5 hours work in. I did take my time and didn't rush. Rolling in the chain, using zip ties instead of a chain guide slowed the roll in. Probably took 45 minutes to roll the chain.
Figure less that two hours to strip the accessories off the front of the engine. About an hour to replace the rails and an hour to roll the chain. Reinstalling the accessories went quicker than removal. Order everything you will need, in advance then do the job over a weekend so you can really take your time without worrying if you'll be done in time to go to work in the morning. |
