Where did you get your wire harness???
I've seen numerous postings and threads on the problems with wire harnesses in Mercedes from late '80's to mid '90's. My problem is specifically with a 1990 300CE. I'm at the point where a wire harness for the engine is not a necessity but probably a good idea given the crispy condition of some of the wiring. Can anyone who has purchased one please provide the info where you purchased it? Numerous local dealers are quoting me $1100 for the harness alone. Any help is greatly appreciated.:D

FastLane
Even though it's not listed in the inventory for most cars, Phil can get them. The engine harness for my 560sel (w126) will be $179 delivered. Your mileage may vary.

Earl is right. Phil can get parts that aren't normally listed in a search. You'll just have to write him and ask. It helps if you can find the part number on the part you're trying to replace. It helps Phil (so he can help you) and avoids a lot of potential confusion. Fastlane has fair prices. Twice I found myself dealing with returns that could have been avoided had I found the part numbers on the old parts.

The engine wiring harnesses were bad only on M104 engines from 1993-1995, so you have nothing to worry about.

The 104 harnesses are well documented, but the one on my 117 engine is old, raggedy looking and several of the connectors are no longer intact. Given everything else i've replaced in the past few years, the harness will finish (i hope, i hope) the job.
