Alarm Sensitivity Irritating 1986 300SDL

I have read through archives and not been able to spot any previous articles that address my issue specificaly. Problem: after setting alarm the system seems to go off without any real cause. Questions: 1} How can I trouble shoot which alarm sensor is defective? 2} Is it worth the effort to try and fix?
