1969 300SEL 6.3. When transporting this vehicle, we're supposed to lock the suspension by putting the lever in the centre position, right?

George, Yes, you'll want to put the switch in the "static" position, as on the 6.9 models. Make sure they lash the car down real good to keep it from bouncing around on the truck. One thing I always liked about the 6.9 was that it had the rubber shipping blocks which you could use either in an emergency or in transit.
