help with engine id 190 2.3,how do i know if i have
a used a motor that works in my 190e 2.3. to me the 84 and 91 motors look alike. any quick way to tell? getting a used motor tomorrow(unseen) would like to be sure it will replace the 88 motor before i install it,

There is a motor number stamped on the block, under the intake side. The 1984 motor (102.961)was lower compression and HP than the later M102 motors (102.985). In the later motors, MB updated some of the timing and fuel injection pieces.
