hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has had very squeaky brakes, and if you have fixed them. I drive a 400e, and the brakes are at about 80%, and they squeak at low speeds. I am going to replace the pads and rotors soon, but I really need some relief in the mean time. Any help would be great, thanks.

This is a tough one. Mercedes tried like crazy to solve this and never did. Here is what we have done.
Replace the front brake pads and rotors. Use the OE silver, heat resistant paste on the back and the BG dip on the front. This combination has worked. I have heard of the dealers using the BG product on the front of the pads with sucess too. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 1991 GMC Syclone ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
Is this also the recommended treatment for brakes on a 1986 300D?
Thanks. |
Try a panic stop to burn off the resin binder glaze. This has worked for me. Get to 65-70 mph and really apply the brakes to the point of almost locking them up. Do this where it will be safe for you and anyone else on the road.
