Rear shocks

Hi,
Can I replace the rear shockabsorber top bushes on a 94 E 300TD [Are they available without the shockers???] if so will I have to depressurise the system first, still seeking loud knock from rear over uneven surfaces.

Thanks Peter

Guess no one answers queries from the UK then...???

Most contributors here are NOT in the UK, and thus have no clue how parts may be marketed there. I don't know if the bushings are available separately in any easily determined way, but you can see for yourself whether they are listed on FastLane. You could call Phil to see, but it seems your best resource would be a shop or dealer local to you.

If you were hoping for a response from a compatriot, then you may just have to keep bumping the message and hoping one of them see it. And try not to take no response as a snub.

Hello Peter,

you could try asking at your local dealership or a place that sells after-market shocks, if it is indeed the rubber mounts. I can't think of anywhere that would sell just those rubber bits- the front shocks are bolted to rubber/metal mounts and can cause knocking at the front, but if you car is like mine at the rear they mount directly to the body.

I'm not an expert but haveyou checked your anti-roll bar/bushings and other suspension links? could be something loose back there maybe?

As well as searching online, try picking up a copy of 'mercedes enthusiast' magazine, they have lots of ads in the back for spare parts places.

i replaced my rear shocks recently, and it was very straight-forward, but i wasn't getting any knocking from the back even though the old rubber mounts were a bit past-it and the shocks themselves were pretty much shot.

Thanks for the response anyway.

Cheers Peter.
