Question Is Dexron III Ok for my 94 E-420 Tranny?? I'm confused?

I need advice for my tranny fluid. I have been told that Dexron III is ok for it, but dexron is red and when I check the level my fluid look honey colored. I'm on the low mark, does that mean I need to add 1 pint?

Check your dealership to make sure.

In 1994 and up, Mercedes changed their transmission fluid. If your car is electronic transmission, you need a special transmission fluid. Since you said that your transmission fluid is honey color. It should new style transmission fluid.

If your car is not electronic transmission, it is Dexron III.

The '94 E320 is equipped with the 722.3 AT... use Dexron III ATF.

When fresh, your transmission's ATF should be red in color. Honey-colored ATF warrants a fluid and filter change.

Transmission fluid level is temperature dependent; check your owner's manual for the proper procedure of checking ATF level.
