Fuse #7 keeps blowing out

I noticed my ambient temp guage stopped working..then just happen to notice the blower not working..its the fuse. Each time I change the fuse it blows.

I did take the car to a touchless car wash yesterday..could this have caused the problem if water got somewhere it shouldn't have?

The problem is on my SL.
Thanks!

Does the fuse blow if you leave the ACC set to OFF? If not, the AC blower is probably old and tired. Do a search or reviving an old blower motor.

As soon as I replace the fuse, turn the ignition the fuse blows regardless of whether the Climate Control is engaged or not.

Any ideas?

I have run into problems with the transmission kick down circuit blowing the climate control fuse. Wire shorts out going to solenoid in back of transmission. Usually shorts to crossmember. When you put pedal to floor, blows fuse. Drove me nuts on my 300D for awhile. Now wire is bad on wife's '88 SL. Doesn't blow fuse (yet), just doesn't kick down.

Any update on this? My 500E is doing exactly the same thing. Turn on ign, and pop goes the fuse. Driving me mad.

My problem turned out to be either water from the carwash shorting something out..OR..a bad connection in my license plate light that seemed to have been causing a ghost in my electrical system over the past couple of years. My local indep spent 2 hours fixing..$150 but so far so good..no increased blood pressure due to warning lights showing a bad bulb.

Good luck!

Well... in the space of one 100 mile journey my car decided that:

1) the air injection pump was going to make a hellish noise
2) it was going to lose some coolant. Where I don't know.
3) Front brakes were going to start grinding
4) Fuse 7 blew, so no aux fan, interior fan etc.

To say I'm pissed off with the car is a massive understatement... !

What's usually blows that fuse in a W126 is a bad monovalve or auxiliary water pump. Disconnect these devices and see if the fuse still pops. I don't know where these devices are in a W124 but I expect they're on the passenger side firewall.
