I have a 1970 280 SEL with a 2.8l. The car runs great for about 15 minutes and then stalls. I replaced the fuel filter points plugs. Do the valves on this car need to be adjusted on a regular basis? I am also having a hard time finding a good manual for this car. Thanks for your help.

How quickly before it restarts? Have you checked to see if you are losing spark or fuel?

Andie, you drive VW too?

If your car is Fuel Injected, you might look at the Aux Air Slide. If it sticks, the hot idle may have been set too low. I would say that the coolant thermostat has failed .
15mins is too long for warmup.

I have checked the fuel pump during this dying condition and i have battery voltage 13.6v at the pump when it dies. I put a standard condensor points and coil to varify that it is not an ignition problem. I believe it is a lack of fuel problem. if i crack a line to the injectors I have pressure. I question if maybe the anti-dieseling valve is not working but I am not sure how to test anything on this system. Yes I drive volkswagens and I am very good with their cis, and cis-e fuel injection systems. I feel that if i had a good quality book on this car i could fix it. If anyone knows where I can find one or has one for sale I would appreciate the information.thank you for your responces.
