Simple Central Locking pump question

Hi all:
I have found a leak in the central locking system at the hose that goes to the fuel filler door actuator. I did not fix it for about two months, and now my vacuum pump blows its fuse about every three times I lock and unlock the car. If I fix the leak, is it possible that the vacuum pump will work again without blowing its fuse or is it a lost cause? Thanks in advance.

As you may already know, there is a timeout for the pump so that if there is a leak, the pump will eventually stop running. However, it is possible that the pump has been damaged from constant abuse.

As for the fuses, have you been using the correct fuse?

Finally, I have to ask why you don't fix the leak or at least plug it? It should be easy to get to.

A new pump is $228 from FastLane.

Good luck.

I have definitely been using the correct fuse. I decided to just live with it for a while till I got around to fixing it. It is now being fixed. However, if the pump does timeout, shouldn't it not blow the fuse?

The pump will timeout if it's operating correctly. However, it will run far longer than it would normally run with a closed vacuum system so there's no telling if (after a long period of excessive running) it just gave up the ghost.
