Dennis,
You'll notice a button sticking out against the leather on the back, probably about midway down and one third to one side or the other. This is used to remove the head rest. Run the head rest to the top (manually in this case since it's broken), push the button and pull the head rest the rest of the way out. You'll have to have the seat reclined a bit in order to clear the roof. Then you need to remove the seat back. There are screws at the very bottom and then one carefully prys the back off starting at the bottom. Once you have the seat open, there is as plastic guide and lock assembly that clips onto the post of the head rest. This is what is broken in 95% of cases and is a very inexpensive part from Fastlane or BuyMBParts. I don't recall the exact method of installation for the guide but it is very simple and straightforward once you are looking at it. The whole job took me about 15 minutes start to finish. jlc
