Help Broke a lug off 420SEL
Bought the car a few weeks ago nice day so I changed oil and was going to check the brake wear. 4 lugs came out ok but real tight then the last one pounded for about 10seconds then snap. It would be ok if it broke at the wheel. But it didn't. :( Any help on how I can get it off. The wheel will not come off now. Bad deal.
It is bad if some idiot uses a high power air wrench to put them on. As it seems to have been. Thanks |
No advice, just a question - it broke between the hex and the flange that holds the wheel on?

This is a fairly common problem.
There is a tool built that drills the remaining portion off. You might call around to a few MB specialists and see if they have dealt with it before. I Imagine they will have. Then put your other lugs back on and take it to them. Either that or buy the tool. You might try www.baumtools.com |
Yes that is where it broke. I use a high reverse torgue air wrench to remove. It left the shoulder holding the wheel on. It is a 90 420SEL . People that use air wrench instead of torque wrench should have there nuts tightened with an air wrench. One post said hole saw still looking.
