Rebuilt cylinder heads
Does anyone know where I can get a rebuily cylinder head for 1991 300E, or a machine shop in NJ that will rebuild mine??????
Thanks everyone Chris |
I know that Performance Products sell them - or at least they have them in their catalog. Try www.************************

If you will ask around, you will find a machine shop that is accustomed to doing these heads and will save a LOT of money compared to getting a rebuilt one from one of the online houses such as Performance Products.
Just make SURE that the shop replaces the valve guides as well as doing a valve job. Failing your locating a local shop, I know a very reputable and reasonably priced shop in Dallas that I'm sure you could UPS it to and they would UPS it back. Good luck, |
I picked up a rebuilt head from Metric Motors in Canoga Park, Ca. for my wagon and couldn't be more pleased. Thir website is www.mercedesengines.net. The price was fair and the workmanship excellent.

larrybible,
Were you suggesting Bailey's ???? in dallas. I've moved to Hurst Texas. Hope to take the watchmaker's class up in your neck of the wood's someday! Michael |
what end of nj, n or s?
If in the north, check with European Technical Center, Emerson, NJ, 201-986-1111 . They do some rebuilds (even some of the machine work) themselves in-house. Just had my 124 done.
Good guys, reasonable rates. Peter |
Yes, I was talking about Bailey's Crankshaft. He doesn't have a fancy shop, but their work is thorough and excellent and is reasonably priced. As with many shops though, it's sometimes tough to get something through their shop quickly.
They've done work for me for about twenty years. Mr. Bailey's son is now doing most of the work, but he is most definitely a "chip off the old block." Yes, the horology classes at PJC are very well known. The husband of a lady that my wife works with does the jewelry making portion of the curriculum. I'm not sure about the watchmaking. BTW, samiam, after you gain your master watchmaking status, I have an Oyster Perpetual that needs an overhaul. Have a great day, |
Larry,
If you want your Rolex done right... ussually, I talk with the young guys coming out of school at the DFW NACC watch show March 6th. Other option is finding a Masterwatch maker from AWI's website. I've used a guy in Irving whom had 65+ years of experience. Both options are much less than what a rolex dealer would charge and both are well trained in high-end watches. Thanks for the tip on Bailey's. I'll take it to heart and give them a try when I do the M103 head. Michael |
