Overhead Lamp problems

Has anyone had experience with problems relating to the overhead lamp unit on their w140 S Class? Neither of my reading light switches operate (I’ve checked the bulbs) and recently only the right side dome light operates. I tried moving the dome bulb from the right side to the left side, but only the right side will operate. I did notice after removing the lamp assembly there is a circuit board that controls various features of the lamp assembly unit.

Do you think I’m experiencing failing circuit board in the lamp assembly or just bad switches?

Russell

Circuit board?

I had a similar problem with my 126. Of course the lamp circuit is much simpler and less expensive. Replacing the unit fixed my intermittant problems. My local recycler allowed me to take the unit out to the car and plug it in to determine if that was the problem.

Robert the fix for my problem was replacing the over head lamp assembly. I was able to purchase a used one on Ebay. It was an easy install but a littly expensive at almot $100.
