Quick W202 Lower Control Arm Replacement question
At 125K on my 1994 C220 both my lower control arm bushing need replacement and a friend who owns a garage will be helping me with it.
Before I start, I'd like to get know what I am getting into - (a) Do you need any special Mercedes tools to remove and/or install the new bushings? Any tips on this? (b) My mechanic friend says it a bear removing the springs - true? Any idea how much time this should take per side? Thanks, Chandra |
AT dealer & many independant repair shops we have special tools that allow the bushings to be replaced w/out removing the lower control arm. You will need some sort of "special" tool to remove & install the rear-most bushing. BE very careful when removing & installing the springs!!!
Should take 2-3 hrs per side. |
I Just did mine and what I did was took the arms out and then took it to a foreign car place and had them replace the bushings I got from Mercedes.. The springs was not hard to do.. I replaced the lower ball joints as well while I had the arms out..
