Question Emblem removal

I need to remove the 3 pointed star on the tailgate of my 1994 320 TE. It doesn't lie flat on the tailgate & I need to staighten it. I think some one tried to prise it off & it's a bit out of shape.
I've slid a piece of stiff paper underneath it, & there seems to be 3 points that the paper won't slide any further sugesting there is some sort of fixings towards the center of each star point. Would these be screws with a nut on the inside, or do they just push into some sort of barbed fixing? The tailgate looks to be double skinned with the rear wiper motor in the way.

I believe the emblem has posts that have pressure clips on the inside, not a nut.

Yup ur right its 3 little plastic holders that are inserted in the metal in order not to damage it. You just pry where the points are and each should slide off with the right amount of pressure applied. There are no nuts or clips holding it from the inside. Its made to break when pryed at the wrong place.
