190e help! oil pressure guage

I have a friend that has an old 84 190 with a 5spd he is about to sell. I am considering purchasing the car. Have any of you guys driven one of these? I never had until today and wow it was fun! I was running about 80 at 2500-2600 rpm and it was just as quiet and husshed as my moms Lexus. I was very impressed.

The car has a rebuilt head, new valves, timing chain and tensioners because the chain broke. He has had it since it was a yr old and it is really in good shape. All maintenance has been done and the car really runs great. I have 2 concerns.....

One is the car cuts out when shifting to second, I mean CUTS OUT, and then comes right back. Just a split second cut out. He thinks it may be the coil. I have no idea.

Second, the oil pressure gauge seems messed up. It has a new oil pump but at idle it sits on dead 0 and at 80 it sits at about 2 1/2. I actually cannot get it to peg out. The motor is super smooth and quiet. That is why I think the gauge is just off.

What do you guys think...

Thanks!
