Faulty Wiring Harness ?

I am looking to purchase another MB. A 1996 S320. I was concerend over the wiring harnes. My mechanic told me that MB used bio-degradable insulation on there wiring. Should I be concerned? What is the life span of the harness?

All the information I've read shows this problem ended with 95 production. The 96 should be free of this problem.
