w124 cabin filter
Was just wondering where the cabin filter for my 1991 300E was located, and how to remove it..
|
I don't think the '91 300E has a cabin filter. At least there isn't one in my 300E.
|
Only 1994-1995 W124's have cabin filters.

Hey,
My dealer could not determine without looking at the car if I had a cabin air filter or not. Mine's a 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo diesel. The parts counter guy said it was an option on the early 90's vintage. Can anyone tell me where to look to see if I have the filter or not? They said some panel had to come off to access it. Thanks much! -m (I searched, found a few msgs about if their year had the filter, but not direction to where the filter is located) |
Again, only 1994-1995 W124's have cabin filters.
It is located under the windshield wiper arm and wiper motor. I don't know whether or not it is located above or below the blower motor (which is located beneath the wiper motor). |
My dealer tells me these are aftermarket items as they do not have MB part numbers or star logo on them, but say ICLEEN. But it sounds like what you are referring to, somehow.

The items you have circled on the top picture are after-market items.
The real cabin filters are buried under the wiper arm / motor assembly. |
Ok, thanks for the help! I'll do some digging on what I have then....

The second picture of the rectangular paper element filter is in fact the "cabin air filter" for '94 and '95 W124 cars. As others have said, they are buried under the wiper area, and in fact under the area which you have circled in red. You pull those plastic grilles out and a few more pieces and you can see the filters.
But it's moot, since your car does not have the paper filters. Interesting other filters, however - never seen/heard of those before! Rgds, Chris W. '93 W124, '95 W124 |
E320
Where's the cabin filter on my 2002 E320

Scroll up. Click on DIY Articles tab. Go to W210 Cabin filter article.
(they are behind the glove box - box gets pulled to access them) |
Does a 560SEL 1989 have one?

I recently (Monday) took my E320 wagon in for its 75K service interval and was told by them (an indy MB only shop) that my car did not have a cabin filtration system! BAHUMBUG, I say!...:D  I found them, HOWEVER, how does one endeavor to remove them?! In pic #1 you are able to see the white filter down inside the cowling. This is on the driver's side with the screen removed (the tab that has the 'hold-down' screw has been broken at some point and simply lays in place). Pic #2 is a straight down shot at the area. Pic #3 is the passenger side screen still in place. I removed the hold-down screw but could NOT get it to come off! WUWT  ! Any help would be greatly appreciated...:) |
