1982 240D whith 4 speed trany wont start.
 

Ivbeen readind ur tips and fowns some realy helpful hints. but my car is still nut running. Im about to ajust the valves. I have fuel so thats not the trouble. dose this car have a electronic brain?? and if so can that stop it from starting????also I was woundering about how many miles you would expect to get out of a car like this without rebuilding the engine under normel use. Im sure you can tell that I have never had a desel or worked on one befor but its fun to learn all I can. any helpful hints would be greatle apprechiated. even if there not on the subject at hand..

Do you have power at the glow plugs? That would be the next logical place to check.....

Move your question over to the diesel forum. There are a lot of people there who drink diesel for breakfast. They can help you out.
Is your glow plug light working?
Have you checked your glow plugs individually?
Are you getting fuel at the injectors?
How fast is the engine turning over?
