stevebfl quickie for you....

Steve (or others who might be similarly experienced):

We have an '86 Porsche 928S in at our shop with a no-start condition. I ran all the common checks after extensive research and found that the fuel pump check valve seems to be faulty. The no-start sympton occurs only after the car has been sitting for a long time, which was the first clue. All the relays are good so I cycled the ignition key a few times to build some pressure and cranked it and sure enough she lit up right away. However, I have two check valves listed for the 928. Any ideas as to which one it is? There are no footnotes on either part.

One other thing: The owner was complaining that he wasn't able to get the car in first gear. I know there is a "shifter cup" underneath the stick. Would that cause this or do you guys think there is a linkage/bushing problem?

Thanks a million! Sorry to post this here but as we are not a Porsche shop, I'd like some confirmation of my diagnosis.
