124: intermittent brake shimmy

Hi Everyone -

Looking for a quick opinion on my 124 chassis wagon - 1987 vintage. More often than not it has a bit of a pulsing in the brakes when coming to a stop. It's not felt in the pedal, nor the steering wheel. Rather the car just has a little bit of a "jerkiness" as it comes to a stop. It's only noticable at low speed - below 20MPH, say.

What's odd is that it is intermittent. Sometimes the brakes are absolutely smooth. I can't tie it to any environmental factors - cold brakes, warm brakes, rain, dry, etc.

Normally I'd go looking for rotor runout, but I can't reconcile that with the intermittent nature of this problem. Anyone ever experience anything similar?

Thx,

- JimY
