Hood release just wont make it
 

Hi--recently you had to really pull on the hood latch inside the car (1975 116 450 SEL) to get the hood to release. All the way at the top. Seemed the wire needed to possibly be shortened.

Now it won't quite release and I need to get under there this weekend. Any suggestions? Grab the wire with pliers and gently but firmly pull?
