distributor condeser (74 450)

Having trouble locating a replacement condenser. On Fastlane, for example, a condenser wire is listed but not available.
I haven't opened up my distrib yet, but I assume the condenser
wire (since if it were avail costs about $91.) is attached to the condeser and runs to the control module on the left firewall.
Does anybody know what rating the condenser is or what other
vehicle might use the same condenser so I could find the right condenser and just "splice" it into my exisiting condenser wire?

And just what do you want a condenser for. Are you planning to run a standard ignition and get rid of the point triggered transistor controls?

The condenser plays no part in that cars factory ignition system. MB even had a service bulletin where they had techs cut the wire to the condenser as they thought it was contributing to a film that was insulating the points and causing a blue spot on the points.

Exactly right -- the condenser wire is supposed to be cut. We still get calls from folks occasionally who want to replace their condensers because the wire's been cut. We just straighten them out and send them on their way.
