I just ordered a floor pan for my 1796 230.4
Only the left side needs replacing as it is almost all rotten through (the previous owner's probably didn't use rubber floor mats.)

I just wanted to know how difficult an operation the removal and welding in of the new pan is and approx. how long a job is it?

Just received the driver's side floor panel (only cost me CDN$150 !!!) However, the quote I got from a bldy shop is that it will take all day and $350 labour !!!

Is this fair ?

My floorpans (front and rear) cost and labor was $400 for my 76 240D. The 'local welding-guy' did an excellent job!

My welding cost was very low, but in KY almost everyone in the rural areas have welders and experience.

Hope this helps in your pricing quest.

My sentiments exactly! Did they even MAKE steel back 1796? I think state-of-the-art was slate, wasn't it? No need for rubber floor mats. Sorry guys, had to poke some fun on this one :)

I would greatly appriciate knowing a source for after market pans as my 71 220D has two layers of under coating sandwiching a thin layer of rust instead of floor pans.
