I just ordered a floor pan for my 1796 230.4
Only the left side needs replacing as it is almost all rotten through (the previous owner's probably didn't use rubber floor mats.) I just wanted to know how difficult an operation the removal and welding in of the new pan is and approx. how long a job is it? Thanks, AARON ROCHARD 1976 230.4 P.S. I also discovered a great place to get aftermarket floor panels for cheap. If anyone is interested, please feel free to ask. |
Just received the driver's side floor panel (only cost me CDN$150 !!!) However, the quote I got from a bldy shop is that it will take all day and $350 labour !!!
Is this fair ? Just wondering. AARON ROCHARD 1976 230.4 |
My floorpans (front and rear) cost and labor was $400 for my 76 240D. The 'local welding-guy' did an excellent job!
My welding cost was very low, but in KY almost everyone in the rural areas have welders and experience. Hope this helps in your pricing quest. ------------------ William 76 240D (W115) - 550K miles 78 300D (W123) - 200K+ miles |
You can expect that much for a car made in 1796! :D

My sentiments exactly! Did they even MAKE steel back 1796? I think state-of-the-art was slate, wasn't it? No need for rubber floor mats. Sorry guys, had to poke some fun on this one :) Brian |

Geez, so many comedians !!! I suppose I had it coming.
Anyhoo, FYI, the website is: www.showcars-bodyparts.com The guy works out of Mississauga, Ontario (Toronto) I'm not sure about shipping but I went and picked up the part myself (about 45 min drive from my house) I paid CDN$150 for one driver's side floor pan. AARON ROCHARD 1976 230.4 |
