1990 350SDL Head Gasket Replacment

I am in the process of removing the head on my auto. The gasket blew out on the back of the head on the exhaust port. I have searched the site over the last several days and have recieved much needed help but am not clear on the removal of the pin that holds the left upper chain guide. Based on what I have read it appears to be pressed in? I have also got the impression that a slap hammer can be used or a bolt and washers to remove it? Does it sound like I am on the right track? Any advice is appreciated. This is truly a great site.

The pin is pressed in. The inside of the pin has threads so you can rig something with threaded rod and a socket to pull it out if you don't use the dealer tool (I borrowed the tool from a friend when I did mine).

Head Gasket

Thanks, thats what I needed to know. This job gets more interesting all the time. It is good that my old trusty 83 300 TD is still running good it allows me to take my time.
