They're just poking fun at you, because you were NOT specific with your request, the first time you asked. ;) |
Actually, I was
First post reads:
"Hello, I am looking for a copy of the March/April Star article on the SLC Rally cars... Can anyone scan it and send it to me, I am building one and need any information available. Regards," Reading it I see that I did not specify the year but feel I was pretty clear on which article I was looking for, I thought anyone familiar with the SLC rally cars would probably have the article and be kind enough to scan it and send it to me as I have done for others. My mistake and in the future I will be as specific as possible to avoid the rath of those more interested in having a laugh than helping a fellow enthusiast. Which I thought was the goal of this forum, now that I see it is a playground and will watch myself. Neener Neener Neener |
Neener, neener, neener?? ;) You'll get used to us after awhile. Actually, very kind folks here.
I've got the March/April, 1999 Star with the center feature : "The SLC Rally Cars". I have no real use for it, and would be happy to send you the whole magazine (my treat). I'd scan it also, but my scanner is in major IRQ conflict right now so I'll just ship it out tomorrow if you email me your address. Take care, Bruce. |
Great
My address is:
Christopher Goodwin Motorsport 1218 10th Ave. Seattle, Wa. 98122 Thank you very much, Chris |
CGOODWIN,
I have a 20 year collection of the star magazine and no interest in SLCs. You have narrowed your search by appealing to SLC lovers, but have excluded those of us who have the info you search for. Fortunately for you, you have found the right person with a copy of the magzine you need. My point is that you be more specific in the future to save people time. Thanks, Peter |
Chris,
It will be on it's way in tomorrow's mail. Looks like a great retro project. Good luck. |
Hmmmm
Autozen,
Blah, blah, blah. Please can't we just exchange information and leave the life lessons to another forum. In the sprit of Zen I offer you this bit of wisdom from 300BC: "Please let me help you, said the monkey to the fish, as he took him from the pond and placed him in a tree." And another: "The man who is confident in himself gives advice only when asked" Just a thought for your day and again, as each exchange between us, completely off the topic of the SLC Rally Cars.... Chris |
Chris,
Ah grasshopper you have sand. You have stood fast and passed the tests. When I was a young sailor I had to pass many tests. When I was an apprentice at Mercedes I had to pass more tests. I was told to open the top on a 3.5 cabriolet. I searched and searched for the button to make the top go back, because that is how American convertibles worked. This search for a button to work a top that was all manual was to the delight of all the journeymen in the shop at my expense. Welcome to the group, but please be explicit in future posts. Again welcome. Post script: Autozen has nothing to do with Zen. It is short for Auto Zentral Ltd, which is the name of my company. Peter |
Sense
Thank you for the greeting, I was sent to the parts dept for muffler bearings and a bag of blue sparks for the angle grinder and another time when a car was sagging on the drivers side the tech sent the shop boy (me) to the parts counter to ask for a "long weight"... I got a long wait...
All good tricks I still play today with the techs I hire. Check the tranny dipstick in a sealed trans, troubleshoot older 7 series BMW power windows whith the unmarked cutout switch under the dash. Pull the rotor after a tune and see how long it takes them to find the problem. Hide the wheels to cars on the lift when the tech does not place the removed wheels UNDER the car. etc, etc. Are you Zertrally located???? I will in the future be very specific without excluding those whom my specific question may exclude....What is the sound of one hand clapping??? Chris |
THANK YOU
Thank you both so very much, I now have a photocopy of the article I was looking for and a whole issue of the magazine! What a great bunch here, so happy I found this site and so happy you are both here!
All my best regards! Chris |
