Question on Axle of w201 2.3 16V
Hi All,
I am planning to buy a complete axle set (used) for my W201 2.3 16V (automatic transmission). I've found one in the internet, but not sure about the following: - Should I look for a used axle set of AUTOMATIC trans. w201 2.3 16V, or a used axle set of w201 2.3 16V with manual tranny will do allright for my car???? Thanks in advance for the info... regards, swib  |
Hi All,
here's my question again : (this time I try to post my car's image) Is Axle of a w201 2.3 16V with manual tranny = [equal to] Axle of a w201 2.3 16V with automatic tranny ? Tx Swib |
ratios are not, but the setup is the same.
Or are you talking about the half axles only and not the diff ? |

So, can I use the one which used to be installed in a manual trans. car?? thanks again. |
I believe so, like I said, the ratios will be different so you will feel either more low end or more top end depending on the 'before' and 'after' ratios, mechanically they will bolt in. Mileage will change as well.
Otherwise not an issue. |
thanks again grimgaunt.. really appreciate your inputs...

In the USA the rear axle ratio is the same on 5-speed & auto transmission 16V 2.3 cars. 3.27/1 ratio.
