E300 TD cuts out Ph 4 <=== MBDOC?
Finally, some good news. After 22 days at dealer, they declared car fixed Monday PM.
Picked up Mon night and have put 250 miles on since then. Seems good; not quite perfect. Dealer replaced fuel shutoff solenoid, 6 IP seals, 1 other IP leak at back of pump (must have been really minor, didnt make the invoice), Keys, and Engine wiring harness. The first three were known faults that I had written down for them when I dropped car off. The Keys were thier idea that didnt work/help and when car STILL exhibited "intermittent shutdowns" I suggested they look at the wiring harness. Harness turned out to be the last fault. Dealer never said another word about replacing catalyst which they were adamant about doing before harness arrived. Prior to dealer got new battery, glow plugs, fuel lines, fuel relay module and lots of filters. After 2 months of hell, finally get to drive and enjoy car for first time. Is everything I had hoped it would be. But, there is ONE nagging problem I would appreciate input concerning: As RPM's decrease from 1,000 to 600 idle with foot off throttle, the engine stumbles 4 times. Hot or cold. Always. Cough is not the right word; is more a hmmmm, hmmm, hmm, hmm at which point it reaches 600 rpm and idles smoothly. A stumble or stutter. Acceleration from idle occurs smoothly at all RPM's (unless I put my foot down which I do a lot cause it's so FUN and then it ROAR's!! ) Point is it runs well other than the described stumble. Is stumble described a diesel miss? Or related to IP seals, bad spray pattern, interuption of fuel flow? Is Lubro Molly in order? Ideas appreaciated. Finally, thanks to all who helped previously providing their thoughts and input. Was invaluable in helping me resolve cars problems. A special thanks to M.B.DOC whose comments, answers and adivce were DEAD on track each and EVERY time. If you wern't 3/4's the way across the country, you would be my mechanic Sir. Thank you! Terry Allison (a much happier camper)

Durning de-cel the fuel computer tries to lean out the fuel mixture by allowing the EGR system to dump & that causes that "funny" feeling as you slow down. THAT helps with emissions.
Glad to hear that the car runs the way that it should!
