Pitman Arm Trouble

Hi-I have a 1985 300TD 123 body. I am trying to remove the pitarm from the steering gear box. I am using a 3 jaw puller with no luck. I don't see any c-clips or pins that would be holding it on. Am I missing something? I do have the bolt removed.

Thanks

Mike,
No help except it requires a powerfully strong puller, our M-B special tool has been ripped in half on more than one occasion. ??perhaps dealer/machine shop/indy might pop it off for a small fee.

I am not sure about your 123, but 124, 201 steering boxes have a snap ring that gets removed first. I've had no trouble removing the Pitman arm on my high miles 124 using a Snap On Pitman arm remover I borrowed from the mechanic. If you have lots of rust in that area maybe the two parts have bonded together and some penetrant may be needed?

I have tried putting WD40 on it with no luck. I was thinking about putting it in the freezer for a couple of hours then heating up the pitman arm and try to pull it.
