Fastest revving diesel??

Hi.
Just out of curiosity what is the fastest revving diesel engine you have heard of??

Renault DOHC four cylinder, something like 6500 rpm.

Slowest is a Vartsila Marine direct drive diesel -- 200 rpm.

No, the slowest diesel is this diesel:

25,480 liter straight 14 cylinder

108,920 hp at 102 rpm
5,608,312 ft-lbs of torque at 102 rpm

Yup, racing engine. DOHC, belt driven, ran like crazy. The gasoline version ran 12,000 rpm, sorta like a Jap bike.

Let's say that engine was made of a new material and only weighed half a ton. And you put it in a car.

Would the car be fast?

I wonder what its like to change a head gasket ;)

MAN that is some engines. I've never thought they could be made that big. Maybe I should try a turbo for one of those in my merc?:D

Yes, especially inpressive is the fact that the crankcase has ladder steps in it so that you can climb into the bottom of the crankcase.

how much for an oil and filter change on that?

I love the fact that it's basically just a massive version of what's inside your car.

Rudolf would have loved it I'm sure :)
