1000 Sel

I remember on the old Miami Vice they had a limousine that was a 10000SEL. It's obviously just a badge folks, not denoting the engine displacement. Let's not forget, this was the 80's when cars weren't that fast and taste wasn't always in style. Well, at least they didn't sell electric blue Cadillac pickup trucks back then.

It's not about persuasion, it's just like school on Sunday - no class!!

Not sure what you are trying to say but the 1000SEL was a real car. Do a search, there pretty cool.

i have some pics posted here of a 1000SEL. They do exist, but alas the enigine isn't a 10 litre, but rather a 5.6, The body is somewhat stretched with the extra room being afforded to the rear seat passengers (more so than the stretcth of a SEl over the SE). Try a search on this site.

I know they're real, in fact I've seen them several times. My point is, the badge is not the traditional Mercedes nomenclature of using the model number to indicate engine displacement. The limo I was talking about was badged as a 10000 back in the Tony Montana days of Miami.

Here are two spec sheets for the very tasteful 1000SEL:

Yeah I guess good taste was a rare thing in the 80's!

I have seen a very nice black 1000SEL on ebay. It was a bit more classy then these.

They exist. I have photos of my friend's 1000sel. The hood on his car is stretched and is equipped with tons of custom options, mostly on the inside of the car. Powerplant is from a 560sel. I have seen others as well.
