regrind camshaft 1972 450SL
I'm getting ready to put everything back together after a full timing system rebuild. I wish I could spring for the right side camshaft and rockers. The cam has several scored lobes.
I did a search on this forum on regrind camshaft and nothing came up. Isn't that a good economical solution? I guess I would still need a full set of rockers for the head. Would the valve cleareance be adjustable to specs after a regrind. I have mechanical lifters. Anyone know a place to regrind in southern CA?

I would not suggest a reground cam in a Mercedes. They have been regrinding cams for years for American engines and then burying them in the middle of the engine. I tried the regrind route years ago and found them to be extremely noisy in overhead cam applications. There was some Mfg. probles with the early 4.5 cams that caused the right bank to go South. The replacement cams never had a problem. I would go for a good used unit. I may even have one kicking around I could sell. I know I have a have a set of heads with the valve job done.
