Door Step Removal
What's the procedure to remove the door steps from a 96 C280?
I see a plastic rail/guide the step slides on but for the life of me cannot get the thing off. Hopefully there is a simple way (without breaking any clips or the door step). |
There are 2 clips that hold them on, about 4 inches in from the ends.
If you lift the outside edge VERY LIGHTLY & look under it with a flashlight you'll see them. Pull up gently & pry with a little screwdriver, puttyknife, or trim removal tool at the same time. Worst case scenario, you'll have to buy a couple of replacement clips. ;) |
Thanks Manny, I'll give it a try.
2 little clips like on the door panels, huh? Knowledge beats brute force again. |

When I removed my rear sills, that was the case. Yes, they are like doorpanel clips. The part that goes into the body is like a plastic anchor that you use in conjunction with screws, to mount something on a wall. It's kind of barrel shaped, so a trim removal tool with a taper should let you grab the shoulder of it & pull/wiggle it out. ;) |
