Now '94 E420. What next?
So, I have a 94 E420 which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! Unfortunately, I know it won't last forever... although I plan to keep it until it dies.
This has been a great car. Given that, what other Mercedes model would you recommend for me to consider in the future. Reliability, of course, would be my #1 concern. Thanks in advance! Willy |
The W202 is a well-built car. How about a C36?

If you want to stick with the 4 door sedan I would recommend a W210.

I guess planning ahead is a good thing, but if you are going to keep the 420 till it dies you're asking the question waaaaaay too early.
|
I know I know. Just want to be prepared.
I think the w210 is probably a good choice, but with the problems being reported regarding Crankshaft Balancer Failure, I'm a bit scared. Willy |

I drive a 1995 E420 and often times I feel like getting a newer car or even an older (more charming) mercedes.
The later model w210s catch my eye. Particularly the E430 V8s or E55s :-D or the E300 diesels. (Yes... diesels of V8s for me) and supposedly those E430s are really reliable. If you wanna keep it in the same 'class' I could only think of that car or the newest W211. The W208 CLK is also a nice car. It's got a beefy stance and with a V8 it also sounds great. The interior doesn't look that nice though. oh... What about a BMW E39? That is a nice looking car for sure. Not sure how reliable they are though. A late model 6-speed 540i with the Sport Package looks great inside and out :) In fact, I'd take an E39 over a W210. http://www.carlisters.com/ebay22/03b...ilver4982s.jpg |

Another thing about the V8 is the recirculating ball steering? If I'm not wrong, the 528i actually has rack and pinion... weird stuff..

Holson, if you ever feel like its time to sell the E420, please let me know. Just this past Jan I let one nearly as nice as yours go because I wasn't fast enough.
I see by the plate surround yours is a Hatch-sourced beauty, nice. Was window shopping there on Sunday; I live in Acton. Mike T. |
