Hi, everyone this is such a wonderful site. I just purchased a 85 Euro 190E 16V, 5 spd. I have a problem with the electronic idle. (I think)The engine shuts off everytime when I am down shifting from 4th to neutral at a almost complete stop the engines shuts down. This problem also occurs when I am in reversed going less than 2 mph or in 1 st gear trying to park the car. I have taken the car to a MB specialist and he told me the problem was the fuel injection relay which I have change after his suggestion. However, the engine still shut off at coming to a stop while I am in gear or driving less than 5mph. Also, does anyone know any good MB mechanics in Los Angeles areas for this type of car. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well most all 16V cars have had problems with air flow sensor, both US & euro cars. A problem from it will cause either high or low idle problems. Have it tested!

Well my mechanic, did fix my problem. First he change the fuel pump relay. but the car still die on me at slow speed when car is in gear. Than I took back and my mechanic fix it. I ask him what cause the problem but he didn't tell me. He said it was something really simple and he didn't charge me. My Mercedes specailist mechanic is called RUSTY and is located in Arcadia, Los Angeles. He is really good, and recommended to anyone in this area with MB problems.
