I am a lil bit confused !
Did some reading in the service manual and here on the forum and I got the idea that the main fan turns on and off depending on the temp. of air flowing through radiator (clutch engages and disengages it).
Mine spins all the time. When I start the engine its on. Is there something wrong with it?

When you say your fan is spinning how fast is it going? The reason I ask is that clutch fans are designed to free spin all the time and as the air flow gets hotter the clutch engages gradually until it is fully engaged when the designated temperature is reached. I don't think you have a problem.
You should see a visible difference in the speed of your fan when the car is hot as opposed to when you first start it in the morning.

The ausxilliary fan is engaged/disengaged. The engine fan engages more directly as temperature increases, as the previous poster explained.

I think that could be thee couse of my overheating problem. It dont see any difference in speed when the engine is hot.
I hope replacing the clutch iz not an expansive job. I might have to do it :(

Just came back from the dealer.
They quoted around $500 for replacement ($280 for the clutch and $180 for labor).
Daaammmn !!!
The part costs only $133 in Performance catalog.... what is going on ?!?!
As I understand this part has to stay in vertical position while being shiped. Is that the reason for such a high cost?

You need to find a reputable independent shop and buy the fan from parts shop, or a good independent shop will have their own parts sources for more reasonable prices. Either that or; drive it to Florida to get Steve to fix it, or wait 'til Spring and get Donnie do it when they have the grand opening<g>.

Thats what i am thinking to do , but how do u shipp it. It needs to stay in vertical position all the time

It does not need to be vertical all of the time. when these parts get shipped, they are most certainly not maintained in an absolute vertical position. Should not be stored for long periods of time flat.

Have a reputable shop to check the fan clutch before spending the big money. There still not enough information for me to convict the fan clutch.

You can check the function of the fan clutch by doing a simple test. Start the car, let it warm up, turn on the A/C and watch the temp gauge. When it gets near 100 C bring the revs up to about 2000. You should be able to hear a turbine like fan noise. Keep the revs at about 2000 until the temp drops. You can make this happen quicker by killing the A/C and turning on the heat at max in Econ mode. If the fan noise decreases, then for all intent and purposes, your clutch is OK..
