Engine replacements
No... my engine is fine<knock on wood>. However, I am wondering which engines can be a direct swap into my car with minimum changes. Can an m104 be swapped? Does that mean a C36 engine can too? Any other engines?

No, it would not be as easy as a direct swap. The M104 has a much different harness and control systems. It is possible, but an M104 will require some modifications, some work, and a lot of time to make it work.

I guess if someone can stuff an M119 V8 in a 126, it's gotta be possible to stick a 104 in one if so determined! :p

Any MB engine will drop right in and sit on the mounts correctly. However, the problem will be the wiring and computer systems.
The M104 uses a different computer and EFI system, so that will require $$$$$ and time/effort, along with custom wiring unless it was used in the W126 (I don't know if it was). V8s are easier, as they were factory. You would then need a set of front springs, maybe, unless the wieght difference is small. Peter |
Anything is possible, although it may not be feasible!

Neil V/k6dej??? put a C36 in his 88 300TE. Sounded like a $10K project. Check the archives.

What about the early M104 CIS-E 3.0 liter M104 engine that was used in the 1990-1992 300CE's?
