mercedes coolant blue or green

called the local german auto parts here and asked about the coolant they sell for my 124. i thought it was orange, reddish color.
this store is german only ,all the fluids they sell are in german containers.
anyway he said the coolant they sell is a blue/green color.
the post i've read talk about the reddish color. any info on the blueish color or specs would be helpful
the containers have mercedes specs numbers, not what year they are for
thanks
rich

Should be orange / red

The Mercedes coolant that i bought (in a white, 1 gallon container, with a mercedes logo on it) is orange / red. It says "Antifreeze / Anticorrosive".

I'd use only Mercedes approved coolant in my W124. It's available at the dealer or from Fastlane (via mail-order). It's not worth taking a risk with your expensive aluminum engine - get the recommended stuff.

Blue

Europe /Middle East is Blue - Available concentrated in either 1.5 liters or 5 liters.
Right out of the white plastic container with MB Logo .
Label says it is Ethanedoil/Glycol.

Do a search here for Zerex G-05, which is also MB approved.
I get it at Pep Boys auto parts here.
This is the Zerex G-05 web page. http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=10

The MB branded coolant I've bought by mail order is pretty much clear. Zerex G05 is also pretty much clear. I have to mark the jugs so I remember if I've mixed it or not.

Zerex G-05 meets the MB coolant spec. You should be able to buy it at most well stocked auto parts stores.

thanks for the info everyone. i was just curious because the blue color is not mentioned very often.
this store (inter auto parts) has all german stuff.oils and coolant
are white bottles with mb spec's. they don't sell american oils at all.
well i kind of like the blue coolant thought, but would have to drain the block to have it stay blue.
oh well, learned some thing new today
thanks

The only thing I've seen sold at the dealerships is yellowish color (I believe this is what everyone refers to as "orange". To me it's closer to yellow, and a very light yellow when mixed 50:50 with water, but before mixing with water it could be described as a yellow-orange color.
Starting right around model year 2000 they went to a very dark blue coolant from the factory, but the yellow/orange stuff is still the only coolant sold at the dealers in the USA the last that I knew.
