Euro mirror glass 124

Does anyone know if the Euro-spec 124 driver side mirror is convex (like the passenger side mirrors on all modern American cars, so you can see a wide angle)? I know on many BMW models in Europe both side mirrors are convex (not just the pass. side one as in the US), and was wonding if this was the case for MB also. Thanks.

I had a euro "convex" lens on my W202 when I installed euro W210 mirrors so I know they came on W210s. I do not know about W124s.

On my car both mirrors are apparently flat(or very little convexity, not perceivable by eye)

On my euro 300E they are flat too. -And has a blind spot that can easily hide a full size truck..

i also prefer a convex mirror on the driver's side.

there was a previous post on the possibility of sourcing a passenger-side mirror (which is convex) from a right-hand-drive car and using this as the driver's mirror. This would then make your mirrors symmetric.

Hello,

Far the worst feature of the W 124 is certainly the flat mirror on the driver's side. As Freestyler stated before : you can hide a full size truck in the blind spot. My former car, a Volkswagen Passat wagon had the same illness.
But VW offered an "aspherical" mirror as an option (about $ 40 at that time).
Helas, for the W 124 it doesn't excist...
The aftermarket must have known this because overhere in most partshops you can buy rather cheap an aspherical mirror to be glued on the original one.
Offcoarse, some of the heating capacity is lost but it is adding a lot of safety.

I put small round mirrors on all my autos side mirrors. These can be obtained at any napa or auto palace or auto store .They cost about 1.99 plus tax. These eleminate the blind spots on side mirrors. I think every car should come with these as stock equipment. THEY SAVE LIVES AND CARS.jimwusa

The convex mirrors were not available for earlier model BMWs. They were flat as well until around 1999. So, a lot of Euro and US earlier models have flat mirrors as well.
