I want to decalcify and derust my cooling system. The MB manual states that the system should be de-oiled before running the citric acid solution through the system.
This is a 1982 300D Turbo with a light alloy radiator,so a strong alkaline cleaner can not be used. What can I use to de-oil the system? Do you think a non-sudsing dish washing compound would do the job? Or how about using oven cleaner? Would they harm the light alloy radiator?
I can get the citric acid for removing the calcium and rust.
I wish thank anyone who can help me.

Mercedes makes a cooling system cleaner for this purpose. I don't have the part number with me, but I'm sure that partshop will.
