keys make xerox copies of
I recently had to pay $55 to get a duplicate key for my MB 420sel. I asked the man who was making the key if he could make a key from a picture of the key. Each side is different. Can I scan each side of my key and save it as a record? The man said it would be alot easier than not having a picture. I am not a mechnaic. I am a lady in Texas who loves this website because it has made me a genius and saved me a fortune!

MB Dealer charges $20
tkamiya is right. I just had a copy ordered for $20. MB has a place in North America they order keys from and they cut in and mail it to the dealer for you to pick it up. You have to go in person and take your insurance or registraion card as proof of ownership along with your car's VIN and pre-pay the $20.

The Dealer in Eugene OR has to be one of the best MB dealers in the country ,I lost the key to my 240 D called the Dealer gave him my vin and paid for it with a credit card (20 dollars I think) and it came in the mail some time later.I would think all dealers would have access to DMV records..........
