Factory Approved Products List ?
I got a set of manuals on CD. Just about everywhere there is a mention of fluids, it says "see MBNA factory approved service products list."
I searched the internet for such a list & nothing came up. Has anyone gathered this info? I see random mention here about appropriate brake fluids, etc., but there doesn't seem to be a single reference point for all the info. TIA |
I've seen it only in paper form - it's a little pamphlet in the owner's manual / service book pouch. If there isn't one with your car I'm sure you could get one from the dealer.

PS, Brakes, and Transfluid
This sheet must be missing from my owners packet. From what I've seen, if you aren't using MB products, a 95 E300D uses the following grade/make fluids:
Anitfreeze: Zerex Brakes: DOT 4 What about Trans and PS? I've seen some people say they use ATF in PS. Is this for older models, or is it done in 95 models as well? BTW, I have searched, but I am not sure how to limit a search on "ATF" to find my model & year without a ton of unhelpful hits. |
Here is the list
The MBNA Factory Approved Service Products List is now available online, thanks to x0rr0 who is hosting the web site. Here is the link:

Don't substitue ATF for power steering fluid.
The coolant that MB recommends is the stuff they package themselves. It has a very low Ph factor. Figure about $10/gallon and when mixed 50/50 with distilled water gives you two gallons of coolant which is normally enough to do a coolant change. Use DOT 4 or DOT 4 Plus brake fluid. I think the list you are talking about is available from the dealer. It's constantly changing. |
