Has anyone used a thermocouple probe on this DMM?

Does a Fluke type K probe work on this? or only the Craftsman one?

The temp range for the Crafstman lists a lower limit of 40º, but I think it's a missprint of -40º. Any one familiar with it?

Trying to do some superheat work with my TVX and this would be helpful. Thanks.

could you post a link to that site. I would like to know what's different about this dmm compared to the ones that we can get at radio shack etc. any features that this would provide that the others don't have ?

now my question is, compared the above from sears to the one below from radio shack what features are usefule to the benz in particular that are helpful. please disregard the price. I'm only concerned about the features that are specific to our cars at the moment.

the reason I ask is because I already have the one from radio shack listed above, but if it lacks any functions that the one from Sears offers then I'll get the one from sears as well.

I doubt that Radio Shack has one with Duty Cycle range.

As far as the thermo couple goes, they are all the same. All a thermocouple consists of is two dissimilar metal wires, one iron and one constantine. When I worked in a burn in house we would simply tin the ends of thermocouple wire which was these two wires in the same sheath and twist them together. It was absolutely as accurate as the thermocouples that we could pay more money for. So, electrically they are all the same as long as they will plug into the meter.

I just went out and found the book that came with mine. It gave -4 to 720 degrees C as temp measurement range.

It also indicated a type K thermocouple.

Also there was a naysayer on another thread saying that cheap meters would have low input impedance. That is not the case. The spec's show 7.5 Meg Ohm input impedance.

I've been around electronic test equipment since 1968 and I never thought you would be able to get such a great meter, much less for $20. I temporarily lost mine by loaning it and thought I was not getting it back. I bought another one and now have two after he finally returned it. I don't regret it. I threw it in a toolbox that I carry away from my shop. For this kind of money how can you go wrong?

Through May 23, you can get $2 off the $20 price if you are a Craftman Club member. I think you can apply as you buy but I am not sure. $18 was such a good price, I bought two but $20 is great as well.

Decided to pick up an extra meter, and decided on this model. Everything looks great, but the volume for the continuity setting seems a little weak. Do other people with this meter get a good solid "beep", or something that sounds more like a geiger counter? My cheapy Radio Shack meter has a much better audible for continuity.

The beeper volume on both of my meters is fine. I'm sure that if there was a lot of background noise I wouldn't be able to hear it, but that's pretty much a creature comfort anyway.

Hmmm... that's what I figured. Looks like I'm going to have to contact Sears for a replacement. Mine cuts in and out and is weak at best.
