Help! Leaking Tranny

I have a 92 400e with less than 100k miles. It has a major leak coming out of the left side (driver side)of the pan. I wonder what others may have experienced and how hard a fix this is? Lee Myles transmission shop is calling this a switch (??) and claims once it is fixed the leak will stop. Anything else you guys think I should do now that it is in the tranny shop (that's not too expensive) I would appreciate knowing.
