Update

I put everything back together with super clean valve body, but still will not shift to higher gear.

I think I will go to the dealer to read and erase codes for the transmission, will this help?

If dealer resets the computer for transmission is there a chance that the tranny will start shifting again?

The readings for conductor plate are as follows:

2 + 6 modulator solenoid 5 ohms : 5ohms
8 + 6 2-3 shift solenoid 4 ohms : 4.1ohms
9 + 6 3- 4 shift solenoid 4 ohms : 4ohms
10+ 6 pressure solenoid 5 ohms : 5.1ohms
11 + 6 lock up solenoid 2.4 ohms : 2.6ohms
13 + 6 1-2/ 3-4 shift solenoid 4 ohms : 4 ohms

What should be my next step?

does it sound like something wrong with the computer TCM ? or transmission itself, clutches , seals or ?

I was also wondering where exactley is the TCM module in my car?

Thank you for your help again

The TCM on your car is in the electrical box, passenger side of the engine. It is the smallest one there. We could check to see if the TCM can recognize a code or for a signal, but my train of thought is we could not reset the adaptives. Let the dealer reset them, you did everything you could, great job. Keep me Informed

Do yourself a big favor and check car-parts.com for the TCM. I found one 020 545 92 32 which is the most recent version for your car for $160 shipped. Sure beats the $900 List price!! Quick 10 minute job to if you want to rick the $160.

Thank you

I don't mind to spend the money on a part but how do I know if it is the right part and if my part is bad?

they start from $89 not bad

95s420 06-08-2004 05:03 PM

Well, you dont know for sure that it is bad. However, You have already checked most of the mechanical items. Also, if you do need a new transmission then they will almost certainly want to update your ETC to the Part number "92" ETC listed in my last email.
So, you really have nothing to lose. A tow into the shop is more than $90 and the computer install is really easy. Also, if you get one out of an E320 I don't believe it has to be coded. Should be plug and play.

MarekW 06-08-2004 05:07 PM

I am going to check the part number of my unit, just to see if it was updated or not and will report.

I have the car approx 1 year.

Thank you for your input

95s420 06-08-2004 05:10 PM

You most likely have a "020 545 88 32 " The "020 545 92 32 " is the updated version with the new ROM coding. I has a better shift program. Have you checked your TCM for fluid contamination? I pulled mine out last week and dumped about 1/2 cup of trans fluid from it. AMAZINGLY, I took it apart and cleaned with elect. parts cleaner and it worked great. Of course, I had to fix the trans o-ring that caused the contamination in the first place.

Good luck.

Yes the part # is 020 545 88 32

I am getting confused a bit

TCM - is it the comuter with all other computers in computer box?

ETC - where is this one, is this the connector plug for wire harness, if so I replaced that one and there is no oil there ?

Thank you

When going to the dealer

What are the things to get done?

Check for codes?

Reset codes?

Reset adaptives?

Check tranmission oil pressure, is it possible to check by myself?

Please let me know which ones are important, and did I miss anything?

Dealer here does not fix transmissions, only replaces them, for only $8000cad.

If I purchased used transmission do I need to purchase the TCM or other computer to work with the transmission?

Does the computer have to be programmed by the dealer?

Your help greatly appreciated

ETC and TCM and both the same thing. The part number you have has been superceded with the one in my last post. You can no longer by the "88" part number. The "92" has an improved shift. It is $875 list but can be found used for $150 or so.

Thanks,
brian

I will go to the dealer to get it checked out, what codes are present.

What alse shoul I check while I am there?

Is it possible that the resistance is right on the solenoids but one of them is pluged-up and that is why the transmission does not shift?

Is it possible to test the solenoids for this kind od blockage ?

I am attaching picture of my valve body and where the balls were located.

BB= Black ball
SB= Silver ball
Just wondering if I missed any of them?

Thank you again

I am going to the stealership friday morning.

Checking the codes of transmission and reseting the codes.

What alse should I ask the dealer to check for me?

Greatly appreciated

C32AMG 06-10-2004 08:22 PM

At what stage did you disassemble the valve body? The check balls are in the correct position. The no shift can be a key on code that needs to cleared. I would simply tell them the car does not shift, let them diagnose it. Request a copy of any codes. The updated TCM for a 104engine is 026 545 85 32.

Good luck .

MarekW 06-10-2004 09:30 PM

I am goin to at 8 am

I will ask for copy of codes.

020 545 92 32 is this the wrong number for tcm as 95s420 mentioned?

026 545 85 32 this is the one for my car?

How can I test the solenoids on conductor plate besides the resistance, if they are stuck or plugged.?

Thank you again
